Why I Like the Old Lamoille Schoolhouse
Old Lamoille Schoolhouse has a lot of character, which honestly feels harder and harder to find these days. While it is not a luxury venue, it still has a certain charm that makes people love it anyway. During the summer, they host small Saturday markets there, and although they are simple, I always enjoy stopping by every once in a while. The atmosphere feels local, relaxed, and personal, which fits Lamoille well.
At the same time, I think places like this remind people that weddings do not always have to feel overdone or expensive to feel meaningful. Sometimes couples simply want a space that feels comfortable and familiar. Because of that, this venue works well for certain weddings, especially if keeping costs lower matters to you.
What Makes the Old Lamoille Schoolhouse Good for Weddings
One thing I really appreciate about Old Lamoille Schoolhouse is the amount of natural light in the main room. As a photographer, I always notice light first, and this space definitely photographs better than people might expect. Additionally, the large kitchen makes a huge difference for receptions. Couples can bring in home cooked food, family recipes, or potluck-style meals, which honestly helps cut wedding costs quite a bit.
That part alone makes the venue appealing for many local families. Weddings add up quickly, so having flexibility matters. Furthermore, if you are getting married at the Lamoille Presbyterian Church nearby, it becomes a decent reception option afterward.
Outside, the property also works fairly well for bridal portraits. The surrounding area gives enough texture and charm for simple wedding photos without trying too hard. However, I personally would not recommend it for full family portraits. The space just does not flow well for larger group sessions or extended family combinations.
The Downsides to Consider Before Booking
Like every venue, Old Lamoille Schoolhouse definitely has a few drawbacks. First, the layout feels a little awkward. The building itself stays fairly small, so larger receptions can feel cramped quickly. Also, the orange floors and oddly placed stage with brown carpet make dancing more difficult than ideal. Those details can throw off the flow of a reception a bit.
Still, if you care more about connection than perfection, this place may fit you well. It has history, personality, and a hometown feel that many newer venues simply do not have. While it may not work for everyone, it can still be a meaningful and budget-friendly option for the right couple. And honestly, sometimes that matters more than having the trendiest venue in Nevada.
