Elko Nevada Courthouse Wedding Guide
If you’re thinking about getting married at the Elko Nevada Courthouse, the process is actually simple once you know the steps. First, you’ll need to get your marriage license. You can do that Monday through Friday during regular business hours at the Elko County Clerk’s Office, located on the third floor of the courthouse annex. Both of you should go in together and bring valid ID.
After that, you’re ready to move forward—but timing matters.
How the Elko Nevada Courthouse Ceremony Works
Once you have your license, the next step is scheduling your ceremony at the Elko Nevada Courthouse. The judge performs weddings during regular court hours, depending on the court calendar. If you want something after hours, you’ll need to schedule an appointment in advance.
You’ll also need to pay a $100 ceremony fee through the Justice Court. The judge cannot perform your ceremony without your license and payment already handled.
Right after your ceremony, the judge signs your marriage certificate and gives you a copy. Then, your official documents get recorded with the county recorder within ten days.

Planning Tips
Here’s what couples usually ask about the Elko Nevada Courthouse—and what you should know. First, plan your timing around court hours since weekends and holidays won’t work. Next, arrive early because you’ll go through security and check in before your ceremony.
A really good option is to get ready at a hotel and then head over to the courthouse, especially if you have guests coming in from out of town. Have hair and makeup come to you—I recommend someone from Sand and Sagebrush in Elko. Any hotel will work, but the best ones for photos are rooms with large windows and enough space to move around. Your home works just as well if that feels easier.
After your ceremony, I love taking couples to a nearby green space for family and bridal party photos. However, if you already have a spot in mind, we can absolutely go there instead. You can also split your day and plan your reception separately, which gives you a lot more flexibility.
In the end, if you plan ahead and keep things simple, your day will feel smooth and intentional from start to finish at the Elko Nevada Courthouse.
