Exploring Washington, D.C.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Washington, D.C. We drove up from Virginia after a business trip and set out to explore the best parts of the city on my wish list in just one day. Honestly, I can’t wait to return because there’s so much more to see.

Coffee, Memorials, and Museums in Washington D.C

Our first stop was a coffee shop nearby, where I asked about the freezing temperatures. Apparently, it wasn’t normal to be that cold—and it really was freezing! From there, we walked to the Lincoln Memorial, taking in the sights along the way. Later, we made our way to the Bible Museum, which turned out to be about an hour’s walk. In hindsight, I wish we had taken the train—I didn’t even realize it was an option. With only two hours to spend at the museum, we focused on the highlights. Seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls blew me away, and I loved discovering the very first Bibles or the early texts that helped shape them. Visiting museums and memorials in D.C. gives you a true sense of Washington’s culture. One of my favorite moments was writing a prayer and sliding the paper into an actual block from Israel’s Wailing Wall. That experience felt so personal and unforgettable.

Ending the Day with Flavor

We finished our day at a cozy Ukrainian restaurant, and I highly recommend it. The food was delicious, and the honey cake we had for dessert was the perfect ending. Visiting Washington DC in a single day gave me a taste of its history, culture, and flavor, but I know I only scratched the surface. Before leaving, I reflected on how Washington D.C. offers flavors and experiences you can’t find elsewhere. I can’t wait to return to Washington DC to explore more museums, try new restaurants, and take my time soaking in the city. Every corner holds something new, and even a quick trip shows just how much this city has to offer.
